This Sunday (29January17) we again take up the topic of White Privilege. We will look at the idea through the spiritual biographies (through the lens of race) of some of the leaders of the UCC. We will reflect on their experience and talk about our own. There will be opportunities for reflection, creativity and sharing. Come prepared to join in the discussion.
Two weeks ago we started this series and reflected on what we mean by the phrase “White Privilege.” Here is one definition:
White privilege (or white skin privilege) is a term for societalprivileges that benefit people identified as white in Western countries, beyond what is commonly experienced by non-whitepeople under the same social, political, or economic circumstances.
We viewed a video of the work done by Jane Elliott around the idea of difference and racism.
