This Sunday, February 28th, Dave Reilly (Chair and Professor, Political Science Dept., Niagara University; Director, International Studies Program at NU; President, NU Faculty Union (NULTA); Moderator, NU Black Student Union) will explore implications of the Surveillance State with us.
Dave writes in a recent email: With the issues yesterday that came up regarding Apple iPhones and the FBI, and with recent conversations in my classes, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Surveillance State and what it means for activism. I would like to talk about how the expansion of surveillance efforts is intended to create a more passive citizenry and what that means for dissidence and civil disobedience in the future.
Please join us for this presentation/discussion from 4 to 6 p.m. (+ potluck) this Sunday at our Environmental Cottage, 3449 West River Road, Grand Island, NY 14072. Park on the side of the street that is closer to the river. All welcome.
