Two options this Sunday – Mad Hatter or VOICE public meeting

miki soos logoThis Sunday — Oct. 28 — there will be two options for you.

Those who wish can attend the usual gathering at the Cottage, and those who wish can attend a Public Meeting of
VOICE Buffalo, of which Riverside-Salem is a member.

  • alice in a hatAt the Cottage, at the regular time of 4 to 6 p.m., Alice Gerard, a member of Riverside-Salem, will lead us in a Mad Hatter Party and writing exercise. Co-Pastor Jon Rieley-Goddard will be there.
  • At St. Martin de Porres RCC, 555 Northampton Street, Buffalo, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday there will be a Public Meeting of VOICE Buffalo churches and organizations. Co-Pastor Cathy Rieley-Goddard will be there.

This is a note from Alice about the Mad Hatter gathering —

You are invited to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party being hosted by me, Alice. Feel free to wear a hat or to come without one. If you have a favorite tea cup, please feel free to bring it with you.
While we are enjoying tea and a delicious treat, we will also do a fun, low-stress creative writing activity. I will tell you about it on Sunday. The only hint that I will give is that it is related to Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Tea Party. Please bring your imagination and your sense of humor.
This activity is suitable for folks of all ages, from about 8 to about 108.
The tea party will be followed by a potluck dinner so we are also having the fun of enjoying our dessert before dinner!

As part of a nation-wide movement, VOICE will be launching a campaign called ‘The Fire of Faith’. By reigniting the passion and values of our nation’s churches, and engaging the world with those values, we can reinvigorate the country’s economy and the process of democracy. Come out to our public meeting and help hold our public officials accountable to your values.

What do we want from our representatives? We’ll be pinning them on four issues: raising the state’s minimum wage, increasing the funding of the NFTA, funding preventative measures to stop youth violence, and, finally, the fiscal cliff that looms at the end of the year.

Come with us on Oct. 28th and have your voice heard!
