Peace Center on business meeting agenda

Our business meeting on Sunday, Sept. 12, (4-6 p.m. + potluck) will feature discussion on our relationship with the WNY Peace Center.  Our R-S Administrivia Committee is bringing the following statement to the meeting for consideration:

The board of the Peace Center has voted in favor of ending the special relationship with Riverside-Salem and affirming the idea that everyone nominated and elected to the Peace Center Board face a single process. The Board plans to propose by-laws changes to their membership to reflect this vote.

We believe that it is time to redefine our relationship with the Peace Center. Although we would hope to continue participating with the Peace Center in the struggle for justice and peace, we also expect to be flexible in the kind of participation we will seek in the future.

We urge the Peace Center to seek an outside, independent consultant to assist the organization in coming to terms with the problems that continue to interfere with the work they are called to.

We celebrate the years of special relationship and those who have held Board positions in representing us as those who joined others in founding the organization. We thank in particular Wayne and Jim for their faithful service to the Peace Center in its time of trial.

We hope you will be able to join us for this discussion.
