July 7 Jon Rieley-Goddard, Snapshots at the Cottage — Come with your camera,
either print film or digital, to join others in capturing images of the Cottage
and grounds on a summer’s evening. This will begin a summer-long project to
produce a pamphlet, book, calendar describing the Cottage and its
Holy Ground. Shooting ideas or assignments will be available for those
who wish a jumpstart. Cameras will be available for those who need
them and we will be able to download our digital images to a
laptop computer. (Cont’d., August 4th)
July 14 Carol Alt and Roger Cook, The Healing Power of Poetry and Painting. Carol
and Roger will share their new book, WHO IS GOO? This is the story of a
young brown pelican trapped in an oil spill. Using Poetic Medicine: The
Healing Power of Poem-making by John Fox—and perhaps some music—Carol will
urge us toward our own healing artistic action.
July 21 Mary Hughes, Wild Edibles – Learn how to identify local plants and prepare
simple dishes. Become familiar with remedies right in your own yard. There
will be hand-outs and samples. Mary Hughes has worked as a naturalist for
25 years at Tifft Preserve and the Buffalo Museum of Science and
continues to attend presentations to enhance her expertise. She has
degrees in chemistry and biology.
July 28 Drumming with Daughters of Creative Sound (Karima Amin, Coordinator) –
storytellers, dancers, singers, percussionists help heal our minds, bodies,
spirits!
August 4 Jon Rieley-Goddard, Snapshots, cont’d.: Join in the effort to produce a print-
on-demand pamphlet, book, or calendar describing the Cottage and its
beautiful surroundings. We will review photographs and discuss
what else to include in the pamphlet project. If you are curious about
the steps in publishing your own books, pamphlets,
calendars, or gift cards, this evening will enlighten you.
August 11 Making bread/pizza crust/cinnamon rolls with Robin Shipman
August 18 Angelo LaDuca, The Art of Listening – Angelo will talk about and show us
the benefits of being better listeners, involving us in techniques to improve
our listening habits. This should be helpful not only in our daily lives but in the
RS history we continue to pursue.

preservation, if you wish) on our banquet table with gratitude for the
