Following up on the Doctrine of Discovery

miki soos logoagnes williamsTo follow up on recent presentations concerning the Doctrine of Discovery, Agnes Williams of Indigenous Women’s Initiatives (IWI) will present a program on the doctrine at the Environmental Cottage, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 12.

We also will celebrate birthdays and ordination anniversaries. This Sunday is the 28th anniversary of the Rev. Marge Neal’s ordination.

Agnes presented a program on the doctrine at the Western Area Meeting of the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ Churches in Communion at Dunkirk Conference Center last Sunday (05May13).

On Sunday, Agnes will talk about the work, visions, and priorities of IWI, with special attention to the  Doctrine of Discovery and where we (in light of our connection with the United Church of Christ and the Disciples of Christ) go from here.  She will report on the many activities of IWI over the past year.

You can also check on the progress being made on the pottery shed (behind the straw-bale pavilion) and note the newly planted white oak tree by the front path in honor of Orphie Casper,. On Sunday, May 26, we will celebrate Orphie and others we have lost.

Check out the square-foot gardens, too, and note that there are seeds on the kitchen table available for all.

After the presentation this Sunday, we will have a potluck, as usual.

We meet on Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Environmental Cottage, 3449 West River Road, Grand Island, New York.
