Julie, Julia, and a Janus Feast

miki soos logoDear Riverside-Salem Folks,

If you were able to attend “Christmas in the Woods” last Sunday, you’re likely still humming songs and smiling about all the good conversation and food.  Here’s a link from co-pastor Jon that may spark your memories (and if you weren’t able to attend, you’ll have a better sense of the joyful music):

This Sunday, December 30th, we are bidding farewell to 2012 and welcoming 2013 with our “Janus Feast” by watching “Julie & Julia” and sharing a dinner/potluck of foods we make from Julia Child recipes (or anything else we may be inspired to do).  Co-pastor Cathy provides these links for finding Julia Child recipes online:

A reading from The Double Daily Double Murders

miki soos logodouble book coverJon Rieley-Goddard, co-pastor, will do a reading from his newly published second novel, The Double Daily Double Murders, on Sunday, Dec. 16, at the cottage. Jon read from his first novel, The Mystery Man Murders, last December after the book came out. Copies of both novels, the first two titles in a series called Grimoire – The Bros Grim Breakfast Serial – a story in pieces, will be on sale for $10 per copy in trade paperback.

Themes in the books include the nature of public life, trust vs. truth, and the spy in each one of us.

We meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Sundays, at the Environmental Cottage, Riverside-Salem UCC/DC, 3449 W. River Rd., Grand Island, New York. Bring a potluck dish to pass.
