At the cottage:Saturday, Oct. 13,is “Green Buildings Open House,” of which RS and our straw-bale shelter are part.  People can sign up for a self-guided tour of green buildings; we have promised to have folks available to talk about the straw-bale pavilion from 1-3 p,m. but have indicated that people are welcome to visit and explore it any time.  We are making this a straw-bale work day, too, so please join us whenever you can (if you’re not at World On Your Plate!).  :-}Sunday, Oct. 14:
CROP Walk against Hunger (1:00 p.m. at Beaver Island State Park marina).

At 4:00 p.m., we’ll show The Line — Poverty in America —it’s not what you think.

The Line documents the stories of people across the country living at or below the poverty line. They have goals. They have children. They work hard. They are people like you and me.

From Chicago’s suburbs and west side to the Gulf Coast to North Carolina, millions of Americans are struggling every day to make it above The Line
